Next Generation of Jobs Fund
The Next Generation of Jobs Fund is a fund to support advances in all areas of the economy, including advanced manufacturing, biopharmaceutical research and strategic industry-led collaborative projects.
How it works
The Next Generation of Jobs Fund will support environmental and economic advances in key sectors, including:
- Clean automotive and other green technology,
- Health and biotechnology research and development,
- Creative industries (digital media and ICT), and
- Pharmaceutical research and manufacturing.
The fund is modeled after the government's successful Ontario Automotive Strategy that helped to leverage more than $7 billion in total new automotive investments and anchored thousands of jobs.
Criteria
To bid for financial support, companies will have to demonstrate they can meet several of the following requirements:
- Secure good jobs for Ontarians
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions in certain sectors
- Help establish Ontario as a global leader in an emerging market
- Build on existing expertise in areas in which Ontario has a strong research and commercialization base or create new expertise, and
- Create synergies among researchers, business people and entrepreneurs.
